thank you!!! i want to share more updates and stuff soon. we are making the best of what we can. i think forrest and us being homebodies… one of the stressful parts of this was having no where to sleep privately and talk about more serious things without interruption
especially in the midst of something thatis so messy legally speaking + we now have a space where we can reliably talk about our future and how we plan to raise a kid/take care of a senior citizen without having to go sit in a hot car for privacy. it is a lot but this has helped a lot
you know who’s gay? paul the real estate novelist who never had time for a wife and davey who’s still in the navy and probably will be for life
New headcannon: everyone in that song is gay except the Piano Man who has no idea he’s playing at a gay bar and the staff and regulars have a betting pool on how long he’ll take to finally figure it out. So far John is ahead.
[Tag screenshot: That makes the ‘man what are you doing here’ line way funnier]
Ok I reminded myself of the Piano Man lyrics and yep, it’s definitely a bar full of gay dudes. Billy Joel is all “Oh no, these poor lonely men are all single, I will cheer them up with a song” and they are down with it, because it’s funny and/or because they think he’s hot. Billy Joel isn’t my cup of tea but you do you, bar dudes. I feel for John the failed actor with a crush on the oblivious Billy, though. “YES I KEEP BUYING YOU DRINKS. WHY DO YOU THINK THAT IS”.
This is canon
why is explaining a villains sad backstory always taken as an effort toward excusing their actions. why does the conversation need to involve the question of excusing anything rather than just making their present behavior way more interesting by complicating their feelings or their motivations. why is acknowledging complicated feelings or motivations taken as apologism in and of itself. why is everyone so incredibly boring
Twitter is bad but I'm realizing that if it dies then there will be zero mainstream social media platforms where NSFW content can be posted without restrictions (reddit doesn't really count, it's a combination forum host/link aggregator), and that really, really scares me with regards to where we are at as a society.
I am reminded of the famous burrito test, which states that "if you cannot get up at 3am and microwave a burrito, you live in an institution". I propose an analogous maxim for community and social spaces, both online and offline; if you cannot post hole for your friends to see, despite your mutual consent, you aren't in an "open social platform", you are being farmed as somebody's product.
Absolutely. The importance of being able to post adult content isn't Everyone Needs Porn Omg (though liking porn is fine and masturbation and sexual fantasy are normal for many humans), it's that that's one of the first ways that powerful people take control of what you hear and see.
You should ALWAYS be skeptical of it.
Also, queer people are often labeled 'adult content' when we're just existing in public. (even on this very site!) So any "you can't show adult content" policy, no matter how innocuously worded, can become a "sweep those icky queers under the rug" policy.
There’s like. A ton of personifications. Including but not limited to the above:
Quarantine Man
The Taiwan CDC with a Disinfectant Gun
Hepatitis but a Boy Band
Syphilis with Gender (女) and other Bio Information
Varicella (chicken pox) and Herpes Zoster (shingles) as Children
The Plague, but Hot Lady (also with bio information)
Fuckboy Influenza
Measles, but Hot Guy
Lyme Disease with a Mech????
And, of course, COVID-19 in all their gender neutral glory.
There’s more but I hit the image limit. I’ve got a couple articles about them, too:
Let’s make this post even longer because I have even more images saved. Next up, we got:
Tsutsumagushi Disease
Chikungunya Fever!
MERS
Pertussis (whooping cough) with a horrifying (almost body horror) headpiece and flute
Dengue Fever, the image of which literally made me stop breathing for a moment when I first saw it
Japanese Encephalitis (as... idols, maybe?)
And Zika Virus (so pretty! and for what???)
And some higher res images of the ones from the video (Legionnaires’ Disease, Viral Gastroenteritis, and Rubella). Unfortunately, I could not fit Rabies because of the image limit.
@bogleech this seems like something up your alley
Dengue and Zika are both dressed in the colors of the mosquito that typically spreads them!
